Troubled Former Dolphin Davone Bess Released By Browns

CLEVELAND (CBSMiami) – The sad decline of former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Davone Bess continued to get worse Wednesday when the Cleveland Browns announced they would release the troubled receiver.

Bess was at one time a dependable slot receiver for the Dolphins before his life began to come apart. His family tried to get him help before the Fins traded him, but was unsuccessful. Since the trade, his play declined, he was benched for the last two games of last year and things got worse in the offseason.

Bess was seen on social media around drugs and drug paraphernalia and then was arrested at the Fort Lauderdale International Airport after exhibiting bizarre behavior including allegedly squaring up to fight with a police officer.

It's unclear at this point if Bess will ever be able to return to the National Football League. Through six years of his career, Bess caught 363 passes for 3,809 yards, and 14 touchdowns.
