Teen Shot To Death In Lauderdale Lakes

LAUDERDALE LAKES (CBS4) - Broward Sheriff's Office deputies say they have the man responsible for shooting and killing a teenage boy in Lauderdale Lakes Tuesday afternoon.

Cornelius Mitchell, 17, was pronounced dead at Broward Health Medical Center.

Police say Mitchell a friend, Bravon Newsome, 17, were walking east on 44th Street near State Road 7 when they were approached by Elijah Ellington, 32.

A verbal dispute reportedly broke out among the trio and police say Ellington pulled out a handgun fired shots at the teenage boys.

Newsome was grazed by a bullet, but Mitchell was gravely injured.

He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Charges against Ellington are pending.
