Stanton Healing After Quadriceps Injury
JUPITER, Fla. (CBS4) - Florida Marlins slugger Mike Stanton said he's feeling better and that the team will reevaluate his strained right quadriceps muscle by Thursday.
Stanton injured his quad while running out a ground ball during an exhibition game against the University of Miami Hurricanes. Stanton had hit a two-run homer Sunday before he strained his quad.
Stanton hit .259 with 22 home runs and 59 RBI's in 100 games for the Marlins in 2010. He will be a key cog in the batting order to take pressure off Hanley Ramirez.
The Marlins had Stanton receive treatment Monday morning before an afternoon game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Marlins manager Edwin Gonzalez said more will be known about Stanton's condition in the coming days.
