Sports Agenda For Thursday (3/31/11)

Big Story:
The Heat certainly didn't look like a playoff ready team last night. The team struggled late in the third and at the beginning of the fourth quarter and let the woeful Wizards tie the game. But, the Heat pulled ahead in the fourth quarter with big shots from Eddie House?! Yup, Eddie House hit a couple of big three pointers to help out LeBron, LeWade, and LeBosh.

Auburn University looks to be in deep trouble, maybe, after the HBO Real Sports report basically indicted the program. Trust me, Auburn is not a clean program, but then again, neither is Alabama either.

The lockout continues, but the Draft is rapidly approaching and the rumors are flying about the dirt on the draft picks.

The Marlins lost, the Panthers play tonight against the Senators. If the Senators beat the Panthers, well, more on that later!

Here's to the agenda.

Heat: (next game @ Minnesota Thursday 8:00 p.m.)
The Heat got into a nice pickup game against the Wizards last night. Luckily for the Heat, they have better pickup players. What I didn't like was the lack of defense the Heat showed throughout the game. What I did like was as the game got more physical, the Heat stayed in there with them.

Bosh had a nice bounceback game after Tuesday's night meltdown against Cleveland. LeBosh scored 26 and pulled down 8 boards.

James Jones got the game ball though. He was hospitalized in Cleveland for dehydration the night before and came back against the Wizards and played 31 minutes and scored 12 points. I like how the Heat are getting some more guys contributing. I just wish it was more than one guy a night. Course when the big three are pouring in 94 points themselves, there's not a big need. But, when the playoffs hit, I think LeTrio will raise their game some more, especially on the defensive end.

Fun Fact: I believe the Heat have only lost one game all season when they score more than 110 points in a game.

College Football:
Just a quick couple of things here. For more about how much trouble Auburn could be in soon, check out my article on the Sports page about the former Dillard High star making his accusations. Suffice to say, if the allegations are proven true, Auburn is soon to get a visit from the NCAA and could be ready to see the Infractions Committee. Somewhere Terry Bowden and Nick Satan Saban are laughing.

Oh yeah, also hitting the news today is a report from ESPN that a Houston-based scouting company asked Texas A&M for $80,000 to for star cornerback Patrick Peterson to sign with the Aggies. I'll have more on this later on the sports page. Lyles has been implicated with at least two players in a pay for play scheme. Peterson is expected to be drafted in the top 5 of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Marlins: (next game – OPENING NIGHT, Friday @ 7:05 p.m. vs New York Mets)
Well, the Marlins couldn't finish off March with another win, but it's irrelevant now. The regular season starts tomorrow night at Sun Life Stadium against the hated New York Mets. I don't think any New York team is liked in Miami. That fits me well because I don't like New York anyways!

Panthers: vs. Ottawa Senators (7:30 p.m.)
Only thing good about this game? If Ottawa wins, the Panthers are only one point out of last place!!!!! C'mon guys, none of us believe in you!
