Sports Agenda For Monday (4/16/20)

Big Story:
Man, what happened Sunday. Every South Florida sports team won with the Heat and Panthers winning big and the Marlins winning in dramatic fashion. Heat are back at it today and more on the Dolphins draft in the agenda along with my experience at Marlins Park Friday!!

FYI: There are still four shopping days until my birthday…I'm just sayin. (HAHAHAHA)

Lyrics of the Day:
"Snake, I am the snake; Tempting, that bite you take. Let me make your mind leave yourself behind. Be not afraid…I've got what you need, hunger I will feed. One day you will see and dare to come down to me. Yeah c'mon, c'mon now take the chance. That's right…Let's dance" – "Devil's Dance" by Metallica.

Panthers: (off Monday, @ New Jersey Tuesday)
[First-round playoff series tied at 1-1]
It's kinda funny, the Panthers said after losing last Friday they needed to get rolling quickly in game 2.
Stephen Weiss decided to do just that.
When you score 23 seconds into the first period, you're probably going to have a good game, which the Panthers did.
It was quite a different game than last Friday's 3-2 stoning at the hands of Martin Brodeur.
Florida came out and just whacked New Jersey to a 3-0 lead heading into the third period.
I didn't like seeing two goals given up in the final frame, but a two-goal victory in the playoffs is always a good thing.
Unless you're the Philadelphia Flyers who just laid a whooping on Pittsburgh last night 8-4.
Okay back to the Panthers.
They head back to New Jersey with the series tied 1-1.
That means we get at least one more home game in the playoffs for the Cats.
C'mon if you haven't gone out there yet, don't miss a chance to see some great playoff hockey.
It's literally the best hockey of the season.
All in pursuit of the coolest trophy in all of sports, Lord Stanley's Cup!

Marlins: (off Monday, vs. Chicago Cubs Tuesday)
Okay, let me start off by telling you what I thought of the new stadium after I attended Friday night's game as a fan.
*jaw drops*
Yes, the stadium is that nice.
It's a true baseball stadium that really combines the best of the old stadiums with the best technology today.
Of course, if you see that home run structure, it's enough to make you cringe and lose the great food you just ate.
There's really not a bad seat in the house and it's just a great baseball atmosphere.
I didn't really have any complaints of note from my experience.
You will notice something about the stadium if you go though….
From home plate to first base and from home plate to third base is very empty for most home games.
These are the best seats and no one wants to pay what they're charging except maybe a few season ticket holders.
Just don't try to go sit there cause you'll get thrown out by the Marlins staff wanting to make sure the seats stay open, which is beyond my comprehension.
Okay, as for the Astros series, the Marlins took 2 of 3 at home and did so in dramatic fashion with two late inning victories.
That said, I am concerned about Heath Bell.
The Marlins paid him a lot, probably more than he deserved, to be the closer after two straight seasons of more than 40 saves.
What's he done so far?
Two ugly blown saves including Saturday's debacle.
He needs to get back on track or the Marlins need to put a call into the state department to find the player formerly known as Leo Nuñez.
Marlins start a three game series with the Cubs tomorrow, which will also be Ozzie Guillen's return to the field.
That should make some must-see television right there.

Heat: (@ New Jersey Nets, 7:30 p.m., Sun Sports)
I keep saying it and one day people will listen, this team will only go as far as Chris Bosh can help them.
In another lineup change, Bosh was put at the center position and responded with 16 points and 14 rebounds while holding Tyson Chandler to 9 points and 5 rebounds.
Gee, who was it last week who said they should move Bosh to the five more often?
Hmm, that's a toughie.
Anyways….I still haven't seen my lineup starting a game yet, but I think it's coming.
I liked D-Wade at the point, I didn't like Chalmers at the two.
He needs to come off the bench along with Haslem, Anthony, and Jones.
I still want to see this lineup starting a game just to see how it would look:
PG – LeBron James, SG – Dwyane Wade, SF – Mike Miller, PF – Shane Battier, C – Chris Bosh.
Remember, for the Heat it's all about spacing and opening lanes for LeBron and D-Wade.
That lineup right there will give you more space than almost anything you've got.
Then rotate in Ronny Turiaf, James Jones, Terrel Harris, Chalmers, and Joel Anthony.
Now that's some fun basketball to watch there.
I'd like to see a few more victories, especially on the road before I say Miami has righted the ship, but they are making progress.
Big game this week against the Chicago Bulls on Thursday.
Just seven games to go in the regular season.

Dolphins/NFL Draft:
I think the fact that I used to be called Kiper at the Associated Press because of my draft acumen helps me a little here.
But I still don't know why the Fins would draft Ryan Tannehill at the eight spot in the draft.
If he's there, I still lean towards either DE/OLB Melvin Ingram or WR Michael Floyd.
Floyd has freakish skills and size, not the fastest, but would plug into Brandon Marshall's old spot perfectly.
Ingram has smaller hands and arms, but was a beast when teaming with South Carolina's Jadaveon Clowney.
Only a couple of weeks to go until Draft day, I'll have more as it gets closer.
