Sports Agenda For Friday (1/20/12)

Big Story:
Well, that's what you call a good ol' fashion whuppin the Heat laid on the Lakers last night. The Panthers continue their Marlins impersonation tonight against Chicago. And the Dolphins, well, they're still the Dolphins.
When we get challenged in a debate about being part of the liberal media, we layeth the smacketh down on….more sports.

Heat: (off Friday, play Saturday and Sunday at the AAA)
Well, looks like the Lake show has finally frozen over.
It was ugly to watch that Lakers team last night. I mean, UGLY.
One of the things you can take away from last night's game is the Lakers bench is absolutely abysmal.
Past Kobe, they've got nothing.
Another thing you can take away is that Lakers coach Mike Brown is in horribly over his head with that team.
There was no offense to speak of, and the defense was barely on the court.
Plus, what coach in his right mind is going to play Kobe and Gasol that deep into the game.
The Lakers were going to lose the game and Brown kept his best players in the game through the end.
Seriously, Kobe played 41 minutes last night, and at his age, he ain't going to last in a season as condensed as that one.
Bone-headed coaching move of the week there!
On the Heat side, what we saw was fun, good ol fashioned basketball.
The Heat moved without the ball, took quality shots and shot 50 percent from behind the arc.
LeBron led the way with 31 points, 8 boards, and 8 assists.
But Bush, Battier, Chalmers all were in double-digits and Haslem contributed 8 points and 8 boards.
And who didn't cheer when Eddy Curry got in the game.
Yes, he has to work on his defense in the Heat's scheme, but kudos to him for dropping 70-100 pounds and getting back into the association.
If he can give the Heat around 10 minutes a night and give them 6 points and 3 boards, you can't really argue with that.
I am loving Mario Chalmers' game going to the next level.
He's averaging more than 10 points a game and dished out 6 assists and only turned the ball over once.
It's coming around for the Heat, and if LeBron continues to play at this level and D-Wade comes back healthy…yikes!!!
The NBA better start shining up the trophy for the parade down Biscayne Blvd.

Panthers: (vs. Chicago Blackhaws, 8:30 p.m., Fox Sports Florida)
After winning just one game this year, the Panthers now head to Chi-town to play one of the NHL's best teams.
I'll go ahead and say it, tonight's game, along with Saturday's matchup against the Jets are must-win games.
The Cats simply can't go 1-for January and expect to compete for the playoffs.
And in February, the schedule really picks up with 14 games in the month.
If the Panthers do only win 1 game in January, my Marlins comparison will be complete.
The Cats are 3-4-3 in their last 10 games while the Capitals are 7-3-0.
The red light is going off in Sunrise, but it's not for a goal, it's for danger ahead.

Dolphins:
Yknow, at this point, I think most Dolphins fans are of the opinion, who cares?
The Fins head coaching search has gone through second interviews with Broncos o-coordinator Mike McCoy, Packers o-coordinator Joe Philbin, and Todd Bowles.
I'd say right now there's an even split between McCoy and Philbin.
I've vacillated between McCoy and Philbin, but I think I'm going to side with McCoy.
No particular reason, other than the fact that he could coach under Josh McDaniels, and not kill him, and showed great creativity with the Broncos offense and the underwhelming Tim Tebow at the quarterback.
But that's just a hunch, I've been wrong before….but not often! I keed, I keed.

Coming in roughly 10 days from now, National Signing Day!!!!
