Rosenhaus: Evan Mathis in Limbo, Feels Eagles 'Want Him Back'

Interviews-wqam

Drew Rosenhaus joined the Joe Rose Show on Friday to give an update on guard Evan Mathis, saying his client "is in limbo" right now but they're still talking to the Eagles.

Rosenhaus expects some movement during the break before camps open in late July.

"I have a feeling during that time we're going to find out a lot about Evan Mathis and his future with the Eagles," Rosenhaus said, "but I did have conversations with them this week and I continue to work on it and see if we can get this situation resolved.

"I do feel like [the Eagles] want him back. I don't think that's the issue. I think the issue is that for the last two years Evan -- in my opinion -- has been the number one guard in the NFL and unfortunately he does not have a deal that compensates him that way."

The 33-year-old Mathis is approaching Year 4 of the five-year, $25.5 million deal he signed with the Eagles in 2012. He made the Pro Bowl in 2013 and 2014.
