Recall Petition Launched Against M-D Commissioners
MIAMI (CBS4) - While much of the focus on recall elections in South Florida is on Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez, he may not be alone in a recall election. The Miami-Dade Clerk of the Courts approved five recall petitions against Miami-Dade County Commissioners Monday.
Miami Voice, which is starting a volunteer campaign, will ask for the recall of Commissioners Barbara J. Jordan, Audrey M. Edmonson, Bruno A. Barreiro, Dennis C. Moss, and Natacha Seijas.
The attempted recall of County Commissioners comes after the commissioners approved property tax increases for the upcoming fiscal year. The outrage over the property tax increase led to businessman Norman Braman collecting enough signatures to force Alvarez into a recall election.
Miami Voice said it will collaborate with Braman's petition if possible and that it will announce locations where voters can sign the recall petition later this week.
