President Obama Briefed On Impact Of Hurricane Irene

WASHINGTON DC (CBS4) – President Barack Obama was briefed Sunday morning on the federal response and recovery efforts following Hurricane Irene's trip up the East Coast.

According to the White House, President Obama took part in a video teleconference with Vice President Joe Biden, Chief of Staff Bill Daley, DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Energy Secretary Steven Chu, FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate and other senior White House officials.

In addition to recovery, the participants also discussed the status of critical energy and transportation infrastructure in areas that have been impacted. Mr. Obama was also updated on FEMA's support of state and local partners as they begin their damage estimates.
