Former NFL Player and FOX Sports analyst Brady Poppinga joined the Big O Show on 560 WQAM to discuss Super Bowl 50, some NFL headlines and Ricky Williams being an advocate of marijuana and his views that the NFL should lighten up on its rules regarding the drug.
"Here's the bottom line: tell me this, if you go out and put your head through the grinder during a game and then you go and smoke a bunch of pot, are you really helping that brain recover or are you just exasperating that trauma that you just went through on the field?"
"If you're going to talk about smoking and doing drugs, then you can't have it both ways. You're gonna have to give up this whole fight against the brain and the brain damage because basically you're admitting to 'hey, we've gotta take more drugs in order to alleviate the pain' what you're also saying is we're gonna add to the trauma we're putting our brains through."
"Imagine having your brain go through the trauma it goes through during the course of a game or just a practice week. I would suggest that that decision [to smoke marijuana] only adds to the trauma and makes it to where your brain can't regenerate."
