Plane Flips On Landing In Lake Okeechobee
PAHOKEE (CBS4) - A couple of bumps and bruises but otherwise unhurt, a man and woman were able to walk away relatively unscathed after they made an emergency landing in Lake Okeechobee.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue spokesman Captain Don Delucia said the single engine Cessna 172 developed trouble just after it took off from Palm Beach County Glades Airport. The male student pilot and his female co-pilot were able to turn the place around and were heading back to the airport when they were forced to land on the lake north of Pahokee. During the landing, the plane encountered a shallow patch and the plane flipped upside down.
Delucia said one person suffered some bruises, the other was unhurt. An airboat was dispatched to rescue the couple.
No word on what caused the plane to go down.
