SUNRISE (CBSMiami) – The Florida Panthers made a roster move on Tuesday, assigning forward Connor Brickley to the Portland Pirates, the team's AHL affiliate.

Brickley was not expected to make the Panthers opening night roster but a strong showing in rookie camp, followed by a solid training camp and preseason led to him being kept with the club.

The 23-year-old was selected in the second round of the 2010 NHL Draft by the Panthers.

He played in 10 games with Florida this season, recording one goal and two assists to go with 14 penalty minutes.

The Panthers have been dealing with injures of late, with centers Aleksander Barkov and Dave Bolland missing time.

Barkov broke a bone in his hand during a game against the Chicago Blackhawks on October 22nd and is expected to miss another two weeks.

Bolland was hurt during the Panthers loss in Anaheim last Wednesday, also suffering a hand injury, but is expected to be back in the lineup when Florida hosts the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night.

The Panthers face the Calgary Flames on Tuesday, November 10th at 7:30 p.m. You can hear every game on Sports Radio 560 WQAM, the radio home of the Florida Panthers.
