Oakland Park Crews Repair Ruptured Sewer Line
OAKLAND PARK (CBSMiami) – Oakland Park public works crews have finished repairs on a sewer line which ruptured early Monday morning.
The leak in the 16 inch sewer line was first reported around 1 a.m. near NE 6th Street and NE 6th Avenue. To get to the pipe, crews had to dig a five foot deep trench to remove a 20 foot long section of pipe.
The replacement section arrived mid-morning and city spokesman David Rafter said they had it installed around lunch time. Crews then repaired a section of road which was dug up to access the pipe.
Just before 4:30 p.m., the repairs were complete and the road was re-opened to traffic.
Sewage from the spill did not affect any homes but did cause some slight flooding in a park in the area.
