Newark Mayor Book To Address Miami Democrats

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) – The Miami-Dade Democratic Party is looking to get some ideas on the kind of leadership needed at the local level from one man who knows.

Newark Mayor Cory Booker is slated to address the group Sunday afternoon at a special fundraiser at the The LAB Miami, located at 400 NW 26th Street.

Booker is expected to discuss steps the party should take to drive change from the bottom up.

Chair Annette Taddeo-Goldstein says Booker is an example of the kind of leader needed at the local level.

"Mayor Booker is a commanding voice in progressive politics nationwide and an example of the kind of leader we need to elect at the local level," said Taddeo-Goldstein.

Local party leaders said they are open to any ideas on how to build a stronger, more progressive political infrastructure in Miami.
