HIALEAH (CBSMiami) -- Family and friends held a vigil for a motorcyclist who died after colliding with a tractor trailer Friday morning in Hialeah.

Hialeah Police said they are investigating the crash that happened at 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of West 4th Avenue and 53rd Street.

Officers said the man riding the motorcycle, 24 year old Danyer Gonzalez, died at the scene.

"We used to go everywhere together," said Kathy Romero, 12.

She said Gonzalez was a close friend of her family who worked with her father in construction.

"My dad called him at six in the morning to come to work at 6:30 and then he never came so my dad kept calling him. He never answered so my dad just went to work. Then when he was working that's when they called him that he had died," she said. "We didn't want to believe it."

No other vehicles were involved and no other injuries were reported.

Police are trying to find out what caused the crash. They say the driver of the tractor trailer stayed on the scene.
