Miami Dolphins DE Kendrick Norton Seriously Injured In Early Morning Crash

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A bad accident in Miami-Dade early Thursday morning caused two people to be hospitalized. One of those injured is Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Kendrick Norton.

A statement on the crash from the Dolphins reads:

"We were made aware this morning of a serious car accident involving Kendrick Norton. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kendrick and his family during this time."

Police say Norton's black 2017 Ford F150 rolled over onto its roof after colliding with a concrete barrier for unknown reasons.

A grey 2015 Maserati was also involved in the crash. The vehicle had minor damage but the driver was not hurt.

The crash took place on the SR 836 Expressway ramp leading to the SR 826 Expressway.

Both patients injured in the crash were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.

Video of Norton arriving at the hospital shows him suffering what appears to be a very serious injury to his left arm.

According to Norton's agent, his left arm was amputated.

The injury is not expected to be life threatening.

The second person hurt in the crash is Norton's girlfriend. She suffered minor injuries and is expected to be fine.

Norton played collegiality for the University of Miami and is in his second season with the Dolphins.
