DAVIE (CBSMiami) – The trade between the Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles that was reported earlier this week may not be happening after all.
The trade sent cornerback Byron Maxwell and linebacker Kiko Alonso to Miami along with the 13th pick in this year's draft in exchange for the 8th pick and a fourth rounder.
Now it appears that the deal may be called off due to concerns over a shoulder injury that Maxwell suffered late last season.
Per multiple reports, Maxwell took his physical with Miami and that's where the concerns arose.
He missed the final two games of the season but told the Eagles that he could've played it they made the playoffs, which they didn't.
According to Les Bowen, who covers the Eagles for the Philadelphia Daily News, Maxwell couldn't perform some activities involving his shoulder.
Though he didn't fail the physical, this raised some flags with Dolphins officials.
At this time the deal is still up in the air, and it wouldn't have been made official until 4 p.m. Wednesday anyway.
The teams still have several hours to figure out what to do, whether that be the Eagles giving Miami different compensation or the Dolphins gathering more information that makes them comfortable with Maxwell's shoulder injury.
