Marlins Opening Day Lineup Set
MIAMI (CBS4) - In just a few house the Florida Marlins will open the regular season against the New York Metropolitans. While we have to wait for the first pitch, Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez has revealed his opening day lineup.
According to the Palm Beach Post, Centerfielder Chris Coghlan will bat leadoff for the Fish and right behind him will be All-Star utility infielder Omar Infante who will be manning second base for the Fish. Coghlan hit .394 in spring training, while Infante hit .414.
The meat of the lineup will have shortstop Hanley Ramirez batting third; right fielder Mike Stanton hitting third; and first baseman Gaby Sanchez. Ramirez hit .381 with 5 RBI's in March. Stanton hit two homers and had 10 RBI's in spring; while Sanchez hit .368 with 11 RBI's and hit 10 doubles in spring ball.
From there, left fielder Logan Morrison will bat sixth, followed by catcher John Buck at seven; and third baseman Donnie Murphy will bat eighth. Morrison hit .233 in spring with 8 RBI's and one homerun. Buck struggled hitting barely above the proverbial Mendoza line and Murphy managed to hit .236 in spring.
The final spot in the lineup will be Marlins ace pitcher Josh Johnson.
