Miami police search for suspect who fatally stabbed a man outside downtown restaurant
MIAMI - A man was fatally stabbed outside a Downtown Miami restaurant Wednesday afternoon and Miami police are searching for the suspect.
The incident occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. outside El Cacique Lunch Restaurant, at 112 W. Flagler St.
Authorities said the victim, a man in his 40s or 50s, got into an altercation with another man, who then pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the armpit.
"I just saw two guys fist fighting. One guy dropped, I looked up and then a guy passed by on a scooter with a bloody knife," said Troy Jones, who lives in the area.
The victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition, but later died, police said. His identity has not yet been released.
Adrian Fernandez, who works in the area and knew the victim, said the downtown area can be dangerous.
"You see a lot. Sometimes I get off work around 5:30 or 6, and you see arguing, you see people in bags. It just gets a little tense," Fernandez said. "I think the city needs to do something to clean this area up so it can be safer for locals."
As of Wednesday evening, the suspect remained at large. Authorities have not provided a description.
This is the second stabbing in the City of Miami in as many days.
On Tuesday, a man was fatally stabbed inside a trolley shortly before 3 p.m. near Biscayne Boulevard and NE 29th Street.
