MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Danger on the job for two South Florida cabbies after they were robbed at gunpoint overnight.

Now Miami Police are appealing for help after one of the taxis is stolen.

"We are asking for any help the public can give us," said Miami Police spokesman, Officer Rene Pimentel.

He told CBS4's Peter D'Oench, "If you know anything at all about these individuals who did this, call us or Crimestoppers. We need to get them off the street as soon as we can."

Taxi driver Mohammad Younus said he was dispatched to NW 2nd Avenue and 72nd Street pick up a fare. He said when he arrived, two young men got into his cab and things took a chilling turn.

"I am lucky to be alive," said Younus. "He put a gun on my shoulder and said give us money and get out of the car. So I give them money and got out of the car. They took the car."

Younus said he called the police and then ran into a nearby store for help. Younus said the pair stole $275 from him. His friend, who was also in the cab, also had money taken.

Younus said the cab that was stolen is a yellow, 2005, Grand Marquise with the number 4030, FL tag #BLCV49 with Spring Taxi Service and the phone number (305) 888-1111 on its side.

Taxi driver Mark Simon told police a similar story. He said he was robbed at gunpoint by two young men as he waited at NW 6th Avenue and 79th Street for a tow truck to pick up his cab which had broken down.

"I saw two guys with a gun coming at me. They just told me to give me anything on you. I gave my wallet to him," said Simon who added he had about $50 in the wallet.

Simon said the duo also tried to take his cab, but couldn't.

Police are not saying if the same suspects robbed Younus and Simon. Simon was robbed first around 9:30 Sunday night. Less than an hour later, Younus was robbed.

Younus said while he was scared, this wasn't the first time something like this has happened to him.

"In the last three years this is the third time this has happened," said Younus.

Neither Younus or Simon was hurt during the robberies.

Police are still looking for the cab that was stolen. Younus said it should have some damage because the men who robbed him hit a pole as they drove off.

"Right now detectives are limiting the information they are releasing while following leads," said Pimentel. "But driving a cab is hard enough anyone and for these drivers to have to look over their shoulder and wonder if they are going to be robbed again. This is not right."

On August 20th, 63-year-old cab driver Samson Ojo was robbed of $29 and shot in the back.

He was able to drive to a Miami Police substation for help.

"So I was thinking of my family," he said. "And I could not leave them behind."
