I-595 Construction Project Ramps Up With Lane Shift

DAVIE (CBS4) -- Construction along one of South Florida's busiest highways is ramping up with a major traffic shift set for Wednesday evening on I-595 into Thursday morning.

The shift is occurring west of 441 to Davie Road in the westbound lanes starting late Wednesday night. It's scheduled to be completed by early Thursday morning.

A lane of traffic is being shifted into the median to allow room for construction on the north side of I-595 in the area where the so-called "missing link" of SR-84 is going to be built.

It's all part of the I-595 Express Corridor Improvements Project, a major reconstruction of the I-595 roadway and all associated improvements to adjacent cross-roads, frontage roads and ramps from the I-75/Sawgrass Expressway interchange to the I-595/I-95 interchange on I-595 and from Peters Road to Griffin Road on Florida's Turnpike.
