Hurricanes Down Starting QB & Running Back

MIAMI (CBS4) ― The Miami Hurricanes have problems all over the field, most notably at quarterback. After taking a brutal, but legal hit last week against Virginia, quarterback Jacory Harris is not playing Saturday against Maryland. Now, the Canes will also have to do without their leading rusher.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, running back Damien Berry won't play for the Canes against the Terrapins. Berry, a senior, has rushed for 690 yards and four touchdowns for the season. He had rushed for at least 100 yards in four straight games before last week's loss to Virginia.

The Sun-Sentinel said most of the carries will now go to Lamar Miller and Mike James when the Canes run the football.

As for the quarterback position, Harris reportedly suffered a concussion from the hit against the Cavaliers. He laid on the field for several minutes before being helped to the locker room after not looking like he knew where he was on the field.

With Harris out of the game, the onus of the Hurricanes offense now falls on freshman Stephen Morries who will make his first career start against the Terps on Saturday.
