FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Three people have been charged in the death of a Deerfield Beach man who was shot during what the Broward Sheriff's Office has called a drug deal gone bad.

Last Wednesday, September 9th, Alexander Glover, 19, reportedly drove himself and two underage teens from Hollywood to Deerfield Beach to meet with 21-year old Joseph Medina-Herrera. One of the teens had arranged to meet him to buy several hundred dollars worth of marijuana through Facebook, according to sheriff's investigators.

The trio arrived in front of Medina-Herrera's home near NE 44th Court and NE 3rd Avenue just after 10 p.m.

Medina-Herrera got into the back seat of the car and handed over the pot. During the course of the drug deal Medina-Herrera got into a physical fight with one of the underage teens who pulled a gun and shot him, according to the sheriff's office.

The shot hit Medina-Herrera in the back and came out through his chest. It then hit Glover in the leg. Medina-Herrera staggered from the car being shot.

Glover and the teens then drove back to Hollywood and divided up the stolen drugs, according to the sheriff's office.
Glover went to Memorial Hospital West to be treated for his gunshot wound. He filed a false police report and said he had shot himself after having smoked cannabis.

Detectives investigating Medina-Herrera's death found messages on his phone and Facebook account from one of the teens in the days leading up to his murder. The day after the murder, sheriff's investigators say the teen changed her cell phone number and shut down the Facebook account. Investigators also found the gun used to kill Medina-Herrera in the other teen's backpack.

Glover and one of the teens is now facing charges for murder, not premeditated, during the commission of another felony. The teen accused of actually shooting Medina-Herrera faces a charge of second degree murder.
