BROOKSVILLE (CBSMiami/AP) —  Deputies arrested a 23-year old man for allegedly impersonating a Florida law enforcement officer.

Deputies said a 911 caller on Christmas night told dispatchers he had been involved in a near traffic crash with the driver of a black SUV in Hernando County.

After the incident the SUV started following him and chased him with emergency style lights flashing in an attempt to get the caller to pull over.

Deputies responded, saw the vehicle and stopped the driver. They saw a shield style badge hanging from his rearview mirror and another inside his wallet. The caller and passenger in his vehicle identified the man as the one who tried to pull them over.

James Michael Buck told deputies he installed the equipment so "no one would mess with him."
