Fla. Man Gets 15 Years For Fatal Hammer Attack

SANFORD, Fla. (CBS4)- A central Florida man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for beating his roommate to death with a hammer.

A Seminole County judge sentenced 34-year-old Devin Simpson on Friday after he pleaded no contest to manslaughter. Simpson's first-degree murder trial was scheduled to begin Monday. He could have faced a life sentence.

The body of the Robert Bebout Jr. was found in a wooded area in November 2009. When police went to his home, they found a bloody couch and bleach. Another roommate told police she saw Simpson trying to pull a pry bar from Bebout's head.

Simpson told police he did not kill Bebout but admitted to wrapping the body in plastic and dumping it in the woods.
