QB Situation A Mess For Fins

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Miami Dolphins quarterback continues to have a tough time trying to establish himself as the starter for the Fins. The latest dust-up came during Monday night's open practice at Sun Life Stadium.

Dolphins fans booed Henne anytime he threw a pass that was even slightly off. At one point during the practice, fans started chanting, "We Want Orton," referring to Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton.

The Broncos QB has been at the center of trade talks since last Monday, but the talks died when Miami wasn't willing to pony up the pick that the Broncos wanted. Plus, the Dolphins may not have been willing to commit long-term dollars to Orton.

The Broncos have since backed away from trade talks after Orton performed extremely well in the team's first few practices. Tim Tebow was rumored to be ready to take over the Broncos, but Orton's play has kept him at the top of the depth chart. Tebow is fighting with Brady Quinn for the backup job.

That brings it back to Henne, who is probably the happiest man in Dolphins camp, knowing that the team isn't willing to pay big bucks to replace him. It could be a bad thing to Dolphins fans who haven't had a quality quarterback since number 13 was on the field, and it could end up costing head coach Tony Sparano his job.

Still, it's only the team's fourth practice together in a brand new offense. Henne, along with the rest of the team, is still learning the lingo, the routes, the progressions, and the blocking schemes of offensive coordinator Brian Daboll's system.

If Henne isn't showing marked improvement by the second week of preseason games, the Dolphins might be willing to cough up a higher pick for Orton. But, it looks like the Fins are willing to sink or swim this preseason with Henne at the helm.
