FHP: Use Caution When Driving In Tropical Storm Isaac
TALLAHASSE, Fla. (AP) — As Tropical Storm Isaac prepares to bare down on South Florida and the Keys, the Florida Highway Patrol is urging drivers to be cautious when on the road.
An FHP statement says drivers should use caution before hitting the road before and after a storm. Motorists should also monitor the storm's progress and listen for any bulletins from county emergency centers.
FHP also offers these tips: Avoid driving in heavy storms and stay in a safe place after the storm; slow down since roadways can be slick after a storm; be aware of high winds, which make driving difficult; and pay attention when you reach an intersection without working traffic control lights.
