Dolphins Extend LB Wake's Contract
MIAMI (AP) — The Miami Dolphins have extended linebacker Cameron Wake's contract through the 2016 season.
The 6-foot-3, 260-pound Wake has played three seasons with the Dolphins, and led the team in sacks last year with 8½. He has started 31 of 46 games.
Wake has 28 sacks and four forced fumbles with Miami after coming to the Dolphins from the Canadian Football League, where he was a two-time defensive player of the year.
Terms of the deal were not announced Sunday. Wake had one year and $650,000 left on his previous deal. ESPN is reporting the extension is worth $49 million, with $20 million guaranteed.
