Could Soggy Saturday Become Stormy Sunday?
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - With the Airshow causing everyone in Ft. Lauderdale to point to the skies, changes are good when they look up Sunday they could get a few drops of rain, or worse, in their eyes. Sunday's forecast is predicting storms across the region.
"Rich moisture is surging north across all of South Florida," said CBS4 Meteorologist Jeff Berardelli. "The moisture extends hundreds of miles in all directions especially into the Bahamas and Caribbean."
This moisture will stay in place through at least early week, and while Berardelli said there is some uncertainty as to how the pattern will evolve tomorrow, some indications are that a small low pressure will develop tomorrow increasing South Florida's winds and rain.
"So the way it looks now we may see an even rainier day on Sunday with gusty storms possible," Berardelli predicted. "If the low develops winds will likely gust over 30 mph especially in thunderstorms, and some localized flooding will be possible."
Regardless of what happens Sunday Berardelli believes it is safe to say that it will stay stormy through at least early week. The moisture should thin out gradually by mid to late week allowing for more sun and less storms by then.
