Cleaning Lady Accused Of Cleaning Out Client
S. MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) - When Maritza Rojas hired a cleaning woman to help her around the house, she never imagined that her maid would clean her out.
Miami-Dade police said the 40-year old Hammocks resident hired 22-year old Jesenia Lopez-Galvin of Hialeah off the internet after the younger woman posted online that she was a house cleaner.
Police say while she was cleaning the house, Lopez-Galvin helped herself to Martinez's jewelry, electronics and other valuables. Police said Lopez- Galvin stole about $200 thousand in jewelry, but only $10 thousand was recovered. She reportedly sold a portion of it to a jewelry store in downtown Miami.
To reportedly help her haul her ill-gotten goods away, police said Lopez-Galvin enlisted the help of 26-year old Ray Valdes whom she also dating at the time.
Both have been arrest and charged. During questioning Valdes said at first he didn't know that Lopez-Galvin was stealing items from Martinez but he should have realized it later when jewelry kept appearing in her possession.
Lopez-Galvin has been charged with first and third degree Grand Theft along with Petit theft; Valdes has been charged with 3rd degree Grand Theft.
