Chilly Now, Warmer Later, Then Cold

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – It was a chilly morning across South Florida with the low 50s inland and the mid to upper 50s near the coast. Temperatures would have fallen even more if not for the cloud coverage that rolled in overnight.

Thursday afternoon the forecast calls for plenty of sunny skies with highs in the low 70s. There's a pleasant breeze and low humidity so enjoy the beautiful weather while it's here. This cold snap will not last long as high pressure drifts to the east and the winds shift off the ocean.

Friday afternoon highs will be back to normal for this time of year as the mercury reaches the upper 70s.

Saturday, the final day of 2011, South Florida will wake up with the low 60s and highs will reach near 80 degrees.

With an easterly flow in place, a stray shower cannot be ruled out on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

We'll be back into the 80s by Sunday afternoon.

But get ready to bundle up again early next week as another cold front moves through to bring a taste of winter again as we kick off 2012.

Monday night, South Florida temperatures could dip down to the upper 40s for the lows and highs on Tuesday will struggle to reach the mid 60s. A
