Burger King Loses Crown In Fast Food Ratings

MIAMI (CBS4) - The people have spoken and when it comes to fast food, Miami based Burger King has lost its crown and McDonald's is just clowning around.

The two fast food icons joined Kentucky Fried Chicken and Taco Bell as the lowest ranked chains in Consumer Reports first ever major fast food ratings. Other major chains with relatively low scores include Arby's, Quiznos, Domino's and Pizza Hut.

The survey's results were based on the responses from 36,733 subscribers who made more than 98,000 visits to 53 fast-food chains.

"Chains like McDonald's and Taco Bell boast supersized values, but consumers don't necessarily think they offer much bang for the buck," said Senior Projects Editor Tod Marks. "Fifty four percent of our subscribers cited low prices as a reason for picking a particular fast-food restaurant."

In the end, only 21 of the 53 chains received high marks for food and service.

For burger fans, the west coast based In-N-Out Burger rated highest of all the chains rated when it came to food, service, value and speed.

Chipotle Mexican Grill, which has several locations in South Florida was among the best of eight leading Mexican food chains, and earned high scores for food, politeness of staff and speed of service.

And only one chicken chain topped the rest hands down: Chick-fil-A. With outstanding scores for politeness of staff, and high marks for food, value, and speed of service, respondents rated it higher than seven other leading poultry stops.
