BROWARD (CBSMiami) – Broward Sheriff's Office deputies are piecing together a fatal shooting at a bus stop on Monday.
The 5400 block of West Hallandale Beach Boulevard was shut down most of the afternoon as detectives investigated.
"Apparently those two men got into some type of altercation. One produced a firearm and shot the other," explains BSO spokesperson Keyla Concepcion.
Apparently the subject of the dispute was a lawnmower and a bicycle.
According to a witness, the man who died was likely in the process of being robbed.
"The last time I saw him, he was pushing a lawn mower with a bike," said a man who only identified himself as "Big Duece."
And "Big Duece" has a theory about the shooter.
"He probably took his stuff away from him. You know how people are with property," he said.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue rushed the victim to Memorial Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation produced a traffic tie up and detectives having a difficult time sorting out who the shooter was and what was his motive.
"He fled on foot in the area of the bus stop. I do not know if he had a vehicle parked elsewhere," Concepcion said.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
