BSO: Bomb Threat Cleared At A McDonald's In Tamarac

TAMARAC (CBSMiami) -- Commercial Boulevard has been reopened after Broward Sheriff's Deputies Bomb Squad determined that there was no bomb inside a suitcase at a McDonald's restaurant in Tamarac Monday.

University Drive will reopen shortly.

Earlier. deputies had closed the intersection of Commercial Boulevard and University Drive in to investigate a suspicious device left at the McDonald's restaurant.

According to deputies, the McDonald's and a nearby Taco Bell were evacuated while BSO's Bomb Squad  rendered the device safe.

It all began around 8:15 p.m. when Darwin Mingo, 27, walked into the  McDonald's and told employees he had a bomb in the small suitcase he was carrying. According to police, he will be charged with making a bomb threat and possession of a hoax device. The suitcase contained clothing, cigarettes and a cell phone.

According to police, the suitcase appeared to have wires coming out of it that are attached to a cell phone.
