COOPER CITY (CBSMiami) – The Broward Sheriff's Office is looking for two men they said are in the market of ripping off elderly shoppers.

Betty Swanson was finishing up her shopping at a Publix store in Cooper City on February 28th when a stranger approached with an item in hand and asked her a question.

"He wanted to know if it would be good for pain," Swanson, 92, said.

Swanson tried to help the man but he eventually told her he'd ask his wife. What Swanson didn't see was a man behind her ripen her off.

The Broward Sheriff's Office released surveillance video showing a thief rifling through her purse and stealing her wallet with money and credit cards inside.

Swanson said when she turned around she saw all the zippers on her purse were unzipped.

"The minute I saw that I knew what happened," she said.

Swanson said she searched the store for the thieves.

"If I'd had seen 'em, they'd have been in trouble 'cause I'd have hit 'em with my cane," she said.

Investigators with the Broward Sheriff's Office said surveillance cameras captured the men leaving the store at Griffin Road and Palm Avenue and driving away in a brown sedan with a sunroof.

BSO said surveillance cameras at Best Buy in Pembroke Pines on Pines Boulevard captured the men a short time later using Swanson's credit cards to buy a couple of computers and a game system, worth more than $1,000.

Swanson said the men also used her credit to shop at Sears and buy several tanks of gas.

"They're professionals," Swanson said. "They've done it before and they'll do it again."

Swanson said she's switching to a fanny pack and has learned to leave most of her credit cards at home.

She said the theft won't curtail her independence and she's angry that these bad guys stole from her after she spent a lifetime working to earn her money.

"If I can work till 90-something, how can that man, as able bodied as he is, do this for a living?" she said.

If you know who these guys are, Swanson and the detectives working the case want you to turn them in by calling Broward County Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS. You can remain anonymous and you could be eligible for a reward.
