Broward Teachers Surprised With Supplies
DAVIE (CBS4) – Seven Broward teachers were surprised with supplies on Tuesday.
As part of a nationwide event called A Day Made Better each received a ton of school supplies donated by Adopt A Classroom and Office Max.
One of those surprised was Nicole Nortmann who teaches geography and civics at Indian Ridge Middle School in Davie. Her boss, Principal Frank Zagari, said he's not surprised.
"She's always taken the role of teacher/leader within the school amongst her colleagues and really has been a prime example of what a teacher should be to the students that she teaches," said
Nortmann, along with her six fellow teachers, received a ton of school supplies which she said will really come in handy.
"Supplies are short so getting anything is a great help," said Nortmann.
Nortmann's students told CBS4 if anyone deserves this it's their teacher.
"I really like her," said Alexis Tola, "She's a really good teacher and makes learning fun."
The supplies given to Nortmann ran the gamut from the usual paper and pens to digital cameras and a freezer.
"Pretty much anything and everything she can use, even some technology," said Office Max's Justin Roach. "We have digital cameras, printers, there's file sorters, pens, files and tape. She's ready to deck out her classroom with what's in those boxes."
Nortmann said the donation is greatly appreciated.
"I provide a lot of things and I buy a lot of stuff for the classroom, so I put a lot of money towards it, so this will definitely, definitely help," said Nortmann.
