Al Golden: 'We Just Can't Make Excuses'

The Miami Hurricanes held on after blowing a 23-point lead against Nebraska on Saturday, sliding past with a 36-33 victory while improving to 3-0 on the year.

"We don't leave anything to doubt," Al Golden said on the Joe Rose Show. "So we've all taken a look at ourselves. We all got to coach it better. We all have to demand a higher standard on the sideline or whatever our operation is and we just can't make excuses. At the end of the day, any one of those plays, the confluence of which ending up leading to their comeback, we just needed one of those plays that we've been talking about here for the better part of about seven or eight minutes to happen. Penalties were just a part of it."

The Canes are off this weekend and face Cincinnati (2-1) on October 1.
