Shock Jock Howard Stern Re-Ups With SiriusXM Radio

NEW YORK (CBS4) - South Florida listeners of Sirius XM Radio will not lose their Howard Stern. The loose-lipped shock jock announced Thursday that he has signed a new five-year contract.

No other terms were initially disclosed and deals for his radio co-horts have not yet been cut. He did say on the air however that the new contract gives him more flexibility but didn't explain what that meant.

In addition, Stern said, his radio show will now be available on "any mobile device." The jump to the Sirius XM mobile app was one of the keys, Stern said, to signing his new deal.

Stern, 56, had been locked for months in stormy negotiations as his original five-year deal, worth $500 million, neared its end just days from now.

Earlier this week, he declared in salty terms on his radio show that he would not accept a pay cut if he stayed.
