2 Dead, 3 Children Hurt In N Miami Beach Shooting
NORTH MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) - Two people are dead, three children injured, after a North Miami Beach man reportedly went on a shooting spree inside his home.
Police spokesman Officer Mike Pons said they received a call around 11:20 p.m. that a child had been shot in a home in the 15 hundred block of NE 151 Terrace. When officers arrived they heard several gunshots from inside a home and called in a SWAT team. At the front door of the home where they heard the gunfire, they found a 14-year old who had been shot. As SWAT members surrounded the home officers got the teen to safety. Making their way inside, Pons said they found the bodies of an adult male and an adult female. Also inside were a 10-year old and 13-year old also suffering from gunshot wounds; the older child begged them for help. Police also found a 2-year old wandering outside the home.
Pons said it appears the shooting was the result of a violent domestic argument. As the fight escalated, Pons said the man grabbed a gun and shot the children's mother and the other children except the toddler. He then turned the gun on himself.
Police have not released the names of the couple or the children nor have they released the conditions of the injured children.
