Hurricane Lane has now weakened to a tropical storm but it could be a deadly mistake to underestimate its potential for massive flooding across Hawaii.
"A sighted person can see the rolling waves coming at you so you can predict the rolling of the boat. I can't," said Steve Sparkes.
It is packing 160 mph winds and could bring heavy swells, flash flooding and landslides to the Big Island as early as Thursday.
Hurricane Lane is pushing closer tonight to Hawaii. Some tourists and residents are scrambling to get out. Tom Wait reports.
