Video May Help Police Find Driver In Deadly South LA Hit-And-Run

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A woman crossing the street was hit and left to die by a hit-and-run driver Wednesday, Los Angeles police said.

The incident, captured by a security camera at Western Avenue and 79th Street, shows the victim being dragged hundreds of feet to her death, police said.

The video shows the driver stop for a moment but never check to see if the woman is OK.

Police say the woman, 50 to 55 years old, may have been crossing against the red light. She has yet to be identified.

CBS2's Dave Lopez reports that this is the 30th fatal hit-and-run this year and said officials are calling it an epidemic.
