1 dead, 2 hospitalized after San Bernardino County home explosion
One person was killed and two people were hospitalized after an explosion at a San Bernardino County home on Friday night, according to firefighters.
It happened in the 6000 block of Ocotillo Avenue in Twentynine Palms, a news release shared by San Bernardino County Fire Department officials said.
"At the time of the explosion, three adults and a dog were inside," the post said. "As units began to arrive, several Marines were already on scene from the nearby Marine Corps base, rescuing the occupants from inside.
Firefighters said that one of the home's occupants was burned and taken to a nearby burn center via helicopter. A second occupant was taken to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries.
One person was found dead inside the home, firefighters said. They have not yet been identified.
The dog was saved from the home, according to SBSD's post.
"We would like to thank the Marine Corps Combat Center Morongo Basin Ambulance, CHP Inland Division San Bernardino County Sheriff Mercy Air for their invaluable assistance," the post said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
