Torrance Man Arrested For Stealing Fireman's Truck From Hermosa Beach Station

HERMOSA BEACH (CBS) — A Torrance man is facing burglary and theft charges after he allegedly stole a truck from a Hermosa Beach fire station.

"Its definitely not one of our normal crimes," Hermosa Beach Police Detective Nick Galya said.

Surveillance video shows Richard Pollock, 52, riding his bike up to the fire station on Pier Avenue, opening the station's garage door and going into the firefighters' living area, KNX 1070's Ed Mertz reports.

The station was empty because firefighters were out on a call.

"He locates some of the firemen's keys and goes out to the parking lot . . . and proceeds to hit the remote on the keys and find which vehicle he was looking for," Detective Galya described of the surviellance video.

Pollock was arrested when he tried to trade in the truck at a Harley Davidson dealership in Victorville.
