The incident was originally reported as a crash near Burbank Blvd at around 5 a.m., however, upon arrival California Highway Patrol officers learned that the driver behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Bolt were shot at by an unknown person.

The driver, only described as a man, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to CHP.

A couple lanes reopened to let some traffic by around 9 a.m., but all northbound lanes closed again as crews continued to investigate the scene.

No description was given on a possible suspect or what led up to the shooting.

It was the second shooting on the 405 Freeway in three days, after a similar investigation was launched in Encino on Wednesday.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the CHP West Valley Area office at (818) 888-0980.
