Governor To Decide If Students Get Free Water: KNX 1070's Ed Mertz Reports
San Francisco state Sen. Mark Leno has proposed free water on
school menus, noting may districts don't offer water with meals
despite a statewide focus on healthy eating in recent years.
Senate Bill 1413, which has passed the Assembly and Senate and
is awaiting the governor's signature, calls for fresh water in
school eating areas by next July.
But the bill doesn't provide funding and most districts say they
can't afford it.
