New Facebook '911bot' Might Save Your Life
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) - A new chatbot for Facebook Messenger helps the user to alert emergency personnel when they need help by using the application.
This past April, Facebook created chatbots in their Messenger application allowing users to deliver news, provide medical advice, and even request Ubers.
With the latest 911bot chatbot, an individual in distress will be able to call for help by typing in information, sharing photos, and responding to questions via Messenger.
Once the individual opens the app, they will be asked whether the issue is life-threatening and other information about the situation.
The 911bot will also track your location and phone number to further help you with your situation.
After getting through the initial questions and information, the app than connects you with a 911 operator via Messenger and offers quick instructions on how to help with the related emergency.
The 911bot was created at TechCrunch's Disrupt 2016 by Omri Klinger, Tomer Coreanu, and Hadar Landao according to TechCrunch.
