Man Gets 32 Years To Life For Raping Woman, 73
LA HABRA (KNX1070) — DNA evidence helped authorities crack a 12-year-old La Habra rape case.
The victim was a 73-year-old woman, who was attacked by Edward Phillip McKenna as she worked in a LaHabra Retail clothing store back in 1999.
KNX 1070's Kim Marriner reports that McKenna was convicted in July of forcible rape and second degree robbery along with sentencing enhancements that included using a deadly weapon during a sex offense.

He's now been sentenced to 32 years to life in prison.
McKenna was already in prison serving 113 years to life for a series of robberies, when prosecutors were able to match his DNA to the La Habra rape.
McKenna served as his own attorney during the trial, claiming he was not guilty by reason of insanity, but the jury didn't buy it.
