Libyan Expatriates Gather In SoCal To Mark Liberation

FOUNTAIN VALLEY (AP) — Libyan expatriates are gathering in Southern California to celebrate the liberation of their home country following an eight-month civil war that ended with the death of longtime dictator Moammar Gadhafi.

Organizers say they've invited fellow Arabs and Muslims along with all local residents to a Sunday afternoon picnic in Orange County's Mile Square Regional Park.

Attendees will honor those killed and displaced during Gadhafi's rule and express hope for a peaceful future of Libya.

The event is hosted by the Libyan Emergency Task Force and the Libyan American Association of Southern California.
