Hawk Fire briefly threatens buildings in northern Los Angeles County
Los Angeles County firefighters were working to extinguish a brush fire that is threatening buildings in Acton on Thursday afternoon.
The Hawk Fire started at about 3 p.m. and quickly grew to engulf about 300 acres of vegetation in the Ritter Ranch area.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department, which was leading the firefighting effort, described the blaze as a second-alarm fire. The Los Angeles Fire Department and Angeles National Forest also sent resources to help extinguish the flames.
Authorities briefly issued a series of evacuation orders and warnings, as well as shelter-in-place orders for residents in the vicinity of the fire, all of which have since been lifted.
By Sunday afternoon, crews reported that the fire was 92% contained.
