Crews battle Pointe Fire near Santa Clarita residential area, evacuation warnings issued

Crews are battling an approximately 30-acre brush fire in Santa Clarita, with homes in the area threatened and an evacuation warning issued.

Aerial footage shows flames within the brush near Photoflash Road, spreading to Soledad Canyon Road.  Los Angeles County Fire Department ground crews and water-dropping helicopters are responding, with attention to residential areas within the possible footprint of the Pointe Fire. 

An evacuation warning is issued for Centre Pointe Pkwy, near Bowman High School. "Prepare to leave if you live here or are nearby," LASD wrote in an alert

Flames are slowly spreading south, away from the immediate residential area.

An extreme heat warning is also in effect for the area, with afternoon temperatures in Santa Clarita reaching 103.
